What is LeaderShape?

The LeaderShape Institute® challenges participants to lead with integrity while working towards a vision grounded in their deepest values. Participants explore not only what they want to do, but who they want to be. The LeaderShape Institute is a six-day, highly interactive leadership development experience where you'll be inspired to learn new skills, gain new knowledge, and discover how to make exceptional improvements in an organization. You will participate with approximately 60 college student leaders from all over the nation. In addition, you will leave the Institute with a "LeaderShape Project" - a well-conceived vision and plan of action you would like to implement at UA to make a difference in an aspect of campus life that you feel passionate about.

When and where will LeaderShape be held?

The 2013 Institute sessions will be held throughout the summer between May and August. The session that UA participants will attend takes place in Atlanta, GA from July 28 to August 2, 2013.

Will I have to pay anything?

The University of Alabama will take care of program tuition and travel; we encourage you to bring "traveling money" for meals on the way to and from the program site.

How will The University of Alabama student representatives be chosen?

A committee of Student Affairs staff and recent LeaderShape participants will review the applications and conduct interviews. Preferences will be given to those who attend information sessions planned during the spring semester. Amount of involvement experience at UA, leadership potential in the future, and ideas for areas of change at UA will also be considered.
